Privacy policy
Effective 22 October 2026.
1. Introduction
Cafe Chat is a coffee-house style online chat community powered by the ChatLife IRC Network. This policy explains how we handle information when you use this website and its chat rooms.
2. Information we collect
Cafe Chat does not require registration. We do not collect your name, email or phone number unless you choose to send them to us, for example by email. The chat network may temporarily process technical data, including:
- IP address, for security and spam prevention
- The nickname you choose
- Messages you send, which are visible to people in the room or conversation
- Connection times and logs used for moderation
3. How information is used
Technical data is used only to keep chat safe, prevent spam and abuse, keep the network running and support moderation. Cafe Chat and ChatLife IRC do not sell or rent user data.
4. Cookies and storage
The site may use minimal browser storage for conveniences, such as remembering that you confirmed your age for the adult room in the current session. The chat client may store your preferences in your browser. You can clear these in your browser settings at any time.
5. Third-party services
The chat window is provided by KiwiIRC hosted at kiwiirc.chatlife.net, and fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. This site also links to external websites. Their privacy practices are their own, so please review their policies.
6. Chat logs
Conversations happen in real time and may be logged temporarily by moderators to keep rooms safe. Logs are not public and are deleted after a short period unless needed for security or legal reasons.
7. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the service. Public rooms are, by nature, public, so never share sensitive personal information in chat.
8. Age requirement
Cafe Chat is only for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly allow minors. If you believe a minor is using the service, contact us and we will act promptly.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. Changes take effect when posted on this page.
